The site gets better all the time.

Hi all,
I finally have some time to sit down and write to you. I only get home 2-3 days a week and my time is filled with working on my house and doctors appointments and getting as much sleep as I can. I work 16 hour days Friday thru Sunday and then work Monday morning and fly home that afternoon.
I have kept my promise to wear my BLUEGHOST HAT OR SHIRT whenever I fly and have met guys from the Rattlers; 196th; 1st of the 1st; and numerous Marines who had personnel experiences in Nam which involved Blueghost either helping their units or had worked with Blueghosts on different ops. I work with 2 former Marines that were at KY HA and had built some of the hooches and were there when the wreck occured on the beach. They were Marine doorgunners and have some wild stories to tell.
I do appoligize to everyone since I haven't been sending e-mails and don't get on my computer that often.
I lost 2 weeks of vacations due to cutbacks and so I haven't been kayaking yet this year and have only made 1 primitive rendevous so far. I miss the rendevous because most of the guys are Vietnam Vets and we have a great time together.
Well I have to get some sleep so please send me some e-mails. Don't worry if I don't answer right away. I'll get back to you asap.
Carl

I just wanted to say hello and this site is great. My dad is Donald R. Roland, he was a Blue Ghost pilot in 68-69 (I think these dates are correct). He passed away in 1993. We never talked to much about his experiences in Vietnam. So now I'm trying to do some research on my own. Your site and others like it help to keep the history alive. Thank you and take care. P.S. If any of his friends read this, I would love to hear from you, thanks.

Want to pass on my address: 256 Church Lane -- Carlotta, CA. If any F Trp members are in Northern California feel free to stop by. For all you motorcycle riders -- we have some awesome roads. Carlotta is located approximately 30 miles South East of Eureka, in the hills of Humboldt County, home of the worlds tallest trees (redwoods).

I'm not sure that I have the right page, but I wanted to let every
BlueGhost know that one of their own is found ! (95 % sure )
Arnold ( call sign BlueGhost 11 ) was shot down along with 2 of his
crewmen, on June 11, 1972 .
I was informed last night that a crash site was found 200 meters from
where he was originally thought to have gone down.

Greetings to all. Dan Delor, this is a great web site. You are doing an excellent job with the photographs and the commentary. I recognize all of the names and photos of the men from l967-68. I think that posting photographs on the internet of these men is especially important because it allows the general public to see what ordinary young american men we were, not the psychopaths and criminals that the hollywood liberal scum have portrayed us to be. I was a blueghost from May l967 until Oct l968 as lift platoon leader and scout platoon leader, Blueghost Red. Although some memories have faded, there are some events that I retain the most vivid recollection, viz, the day Phipps and Ramos were shot down. We tried like hell to land and rescue those guys but we could not because the automatic weapons fire was the most intense that we had ever encountered. I also vividly recall the hot day in July l968 that Mike Chambers and his gunship crew were shot down. We saw the crew crawling away from the crash under fire. We made a quick plan and got them off the ground and out of there as quick as we could.
When I became a scout, Billy Mackenzie gave me the transition to the LOH. Mac was the first Blueghost Red. Joe Johnson from Alabama was my crewchief and doorgunner (TN969). Joe chewed redman tobacco and drank crown royal whiskey. I believe that the last Blueghosts that I had any contact with was Bob Smith and Tom Schwartz about l972. Indeed, it was a great priviledge to have served with such brave and honorable men.
