'Black in America' a hit for CNN
NEW YORK, July 26 (UPI) --
The two-part U.S. TV documentary "Black in America" has helped CNN earn high ratings, Nielsen Media Research says.
The ratings group said Friday the documentary's two-hour finale Thursday helped the cable network draw an average of 2.6 million viewers, beating out its competition for the time slot, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The finale also marked the second-highest ratings for any cable program for the night among viewers ages 25-54.
Wednesday's portion of the documentary, which aired in portions titled "The Black Woman and Family" and "The Black Man," averaged 2.1 million viewers. That broadcast averaged 966,000 viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, along with nearly 900,000 in the 18-49 demographic.
The Reporter said the four-hour program was headlined by CNN journalist Soledad O'Brien.
