I came across this post regarding the Thanet whilst assisting my father in law carry out research into the events leading up to the sinking of this ship. His father (my wife's grandfather) was an able seaman on board the Thanet when it was sunk, he too made it to shore and survived the ordeal. His name was Henry Hart.
As you can imagine we are extremely interested to learn as much as possible about what happened to the men who made it to shore and how they managed to make it back to safety and we would dearly love to read any information you may have regarding this.
My Grandfather able seaman Henry Hart was a survivor of HMS Thanet, who made his way to shore and onto Singapore. We have a local press release relating to his involvement and would be happy to share this with you if you are interested.
We would also be very interested to hear any information you may have been able to obtain on this.
