I am the grandaughter of Ted Newson, I am trying to find out a bit more about his history with the navy and I wonder if any one knew of him or remember him. I can tell you what I know so far.
He lived in Wattisham and Woodbridge in Suffolk, He was sent to Ceylon during world war 2 but never spoke about it until he became quite ill. He then told us that during his time in Ceylon he became ill with yellow fever and had to stay where he was while the rest of the men he was with got sent away. He told us nearly everyone was killed during an "ambush and sinking" off the coast near ceylon and that he woudlnt have survied had he not been ill.
He said that he felt guilty about "the prince is" or the "the princess under the water".
Sadly he died within a few months and I never was able to talk to him about it properly. I wonder if any one has any information or hints as to where I might find some help.
Many thanks for your time, and everything you have done for us all.
