My wife and I are trying to research her family from Valguarnera. Her grandfather was Giuseppe Longo and he was born there in 1896. His father was Enrico Giovanni Longo born around 1866 and was married to Maria Satone born around 1868. Her Grand mother was Felicia Donato born in Valguarnera in 1904. Her father was Luciano Donato and her mother was Giuseppa Longo.
The Longos came to the US in 1912 and the Donatos in 1906. The Donato family settled in Northport NY and the Longos settled in Brooklyn, NY.
If anyone can tell us anything about these families, please let us know.
Unfortunately I do not know of any Longos or Donatos from Valguarnera. My granparents - Vincenzo Loggia and Rose Costello immigrated to Broooklyn from ther in the late 1890's. Some other families that immigrated from there to Brooklyn were Fulmino, Buscemi, LaRosa, and Perrotta. All immigrated to the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, and I am related to all in one way or another. I hope this information helps.
