The nearest shop to Durham is Modelactive at Chester Moor (just before you get to Chester le Street). It is about five or six miles from Durham City centre. The last time I was there (a few weeks ago) stock seemed to be a bit depleted but they carry quite a lot of HaT product. Their website no longer seems to be active though. Should be accessible by bus from Durham City Centre (though you will have to cross a dula carriageway to get to it)
