Hat Plastic problem

I have recently found that my HAT French infantry 1808-1812 have begun to disintegrate. The muskets have snapped off and now the plumes are falling fast.The grenadiers have left their bases and are falling apart. I purchased and painted these chaps when they were first released and wondered if anyone else has had a similar experience?
