I have started with the intention of using a set of rules called Lasalle, which does not specify ranges in inches etc, but in base widths, and I reckon I can get 8 figures in two ranks on a base 120mm wide (ie twice my 1/72 basing), so that I can still get a sensible game out of them.

Problem for me is the lack of decent French infantry (line) and cavalry across all nations. But the MAC Prussians are great, so I have started with those. Artillery will be conversions of French line artillery, and cavalry may well be Italeri hussars with Prussian heads from HaT.
