Re: 26th Cavalry (PS) USA World War II as subject for figures
Mr. Buckingham.
Thank you for your interest in the subject. The 26th Cavalry (PS) was a US Army horse mounted unit. It was officered by Americans. The enlisted were Filipinos who were members of the US Army.
After the failure of General MacArthur's defense plans for the Philippines, the 26th Cavalry fought a number of delaying actions that allowed the basically untrained forces of the Philippine Army to retreat into Bataan from Northern Luzon.
While the 26th Cavalry was in Bataan, one of its troops mounted the last cavalry charge in US Military History at Morong in Bataan. It should also be noted that there were other Philippine Scout units that distinguished themselvs during that campaign.
