Hi Donald:

The Flames of War website is chock full of useful painting tips, even if it is aimed at the WRONG scale.

Here is their process for painting late war Falschirmjagers:

Early war their helmets and trousers were blue. I used the Taymia "Field Blue" which is the same for Luftwaffe uniforms.
