And not to forget: Napoleon although he lost, wrote the history books, with the help of the British who kept him in a kind of golden cage at St. Helena (think if it had been 1945!).
I don't know exactly what you want to imply by this remark. But if you should compare Napoleon to Hitler this is absolutely inacceptable. Napoleon may have been a military dictator but he never was a racist mass murderer.
If Blücher had got him, he would have been shot. Napoleon was no Hitler, of course, but still behind about five dead millions (as he admitted to Metternich in 1813). This was in Nuremberg enough to hang several leading Nazis (Strasser, Ribentrop, Rosenberg).
The first part is evident: Napoleon had five years to write his version at st. Helena, and so he did, and his reputation grew for more than a century.
