In the back of the old "The Sword And The Flame" rules there are tips on scratch building huts. In a nutshell, take an empty roll of toilette paper or paper towel and cut it to the desired height. Wrap it in burlap (a.k.a. jute), using glue to hold it in place. Add a conical roof from heavy paper. Cover the roof with straw from an old broom or similar.
To go with a collection of huts you can make a kraal from dry twigs stuck vertically into a base. Use twigs that aren't perfectly straight because trees that grow on the savanah tend not to grow straight, unlike the pines and cedars used for Russian or North American pallisades and fence rails.
You can fill the kraal with long-horned cattle from the old Atlantic "Stampede" set, re-released by Nexus. Alternatively, you can use the oxen from the Pegasus "California Mission Indians set"
