Speedpainting Tips

Hi all you experts,
I know that one should "take time" and blah blah in a hobby like modelling, but when you don't have that kind of time, what methods do you use to speed paint figures that have a lot of detail so that mistakes are often noticeable?
For example, HaT's Austro Hungarian WWI infantry is easy to paint because all it is is a blue pants, tunic, and cap, brown belts/sashes, cartridgepouch, and rifle, skintone face and hands, black shoes, and tan backsack. However things like HaT's Napoleonic French Infantry are a different story. How does one paint such complicated things in the minimum amount of time?
