Great topic armybiscuits, it's difficult to know where to start. There are of course some truly awful sets still being released - it makes you wonder why some of these companies bother really. But of the 'major manufacturers' here are some of my real pet hates:
- Airfix: Both of the American War of Independence sets, the Napoleonic French Artillery set - the tiny horses and tiny cannon! - and most of the Romans set. And yes, the British Paratroops set is just plain bad, I dumped them years ago for the Revell and Esci alternatives...talking of which:
- Esci: The truly dreadful combined British '1815' line infantry/highlanders set, never to be forgiven....ever!
- Revell: Their Normans set, which for some completely weird reason the Plastic Soldier Review reviewer liked...I can remember buying four sets many years ago having not had a preview. What a huge disappointment they are....Oh, and roll on some really good HaT Normans??
- Atlantic: Anything. I remember buying a set of their WW2 Russian infantry as a teenager and wondering just what to do with such trash....
Something I will say; the great resource that is the PSR does at least allow us to see what we might be spending our cash on, ditto the HaT site here. keep it up guys, you are providing a great service.
