If you have not already purchased your copy of Janice Friedman's "Swingin' for the Ride," hie yourself to cdbaby immediately! Suede and Toni have both already commented on this new release, and I want to add my personal recommendation. Janice really struts her stuff on the keyboard and through her incredible vocals (a first on this CD, as her other work has been strictly instrumental), supported by a top notch trio. Several songs are written by her and are thoroughly engaging. She also gives a lovely ride to some standards by Gershwin, Fields/McHugh and Hart/Rodgers, among others. This woman leaves Diana Krall in the dust. A MUST have for any jazz lover! And perhaps, all of us who are Suede devotees will be treated sometime in the not too distant future to some vocal duets in concert. What a bonus that would be!
