The article in PMCC Mag 59 on the sale of ex police items was very good - I could probably kit out a couple of officers in full uniform - all quite legitimately obtained. My former force (no names mentioned, I am sure others do the same) has had a policy for many years of not taking back old uniforms and leaving it to the officers to dispose of themselves, I guess if they cannot re-issue it is not cost effective. Also historically there were the obsolete items, often 'rescued' from destruction by officers who care about our heritage. Whilst there are cowboys (and thieves) out there I am sure the majority of items are legally obtained and disposed of carefully and using common sense - or are they?
