Royal Parks Constabulary Memorabilia

Dear All,

There has been some confusion latley in regard to the selling of Royal Parks Constabulary uniform on Internet Auction Sites. Even though the Force is obsolete, please take not of the following when I enquired with the Royal Parks Agency:

As I understand the matter, any equipment issued at public expense for the purpose of carrying out an official duty is public property, and not to be disposed of by the person to whom it was issued. The change relating to the policing of the parks would not alter that.

RPA Head of Policy.

I do know the last Cheif Officer of the RPC who was a
Superintendent did warn all Officer's about the selling of Uniform.

Re: Royal Parks Constabulary Memorabilia

If the helmet has been lawfully obtained for example by a retiring officer, and paid for for example as some forces do by means of a nominal fee payment, then it is safe to say that it becomes your property and for you to dispose of as seen fit...including selling. The RPA Head of Policy statement is far from clear as to what the position is relating to items that have been possibly given by the force as a gift...or retained by a retiring officer.
