Butler, James A.

I am the 2nd great grandson of Butler, James A who is cited on this web page as:
"Butler, James A., enl 5/30/62, m/i 7/9/62, PVT, Co. B, 9th VVI, dsrtd 10/26/62, rtnd 4/20/63, tr to VRC 2/8/64, m/o 11/28/65"

and dob & dodare given as: "born: 5/27/1843, unknown; died: 8/28/1915"

place of burial is given as:
"Highgate Center Cemetery, Highgate, VT" and is linked to www.findagrave.com with a photo of a headstone for a Butler, James A.

He was born abt 1844 in Poultny, Rutland County, Vermont, based on the 1850 Census records. I also have his pension index card which shows his widow was Olive Colvin (nee Parker). Olive Parker was my 2nd great grandmother. History of Rutland County, Vermont: with illustrations and biographical sketches of some of its prominent men and pioneers lists James A Butler as being on Co B, 9th regt. as well as listing several of his brothers.
I also have the card for headstones provided to deceased Union Civil War Veterans & lists the cemetery as Village; city as Poultney; county & state as Rutland, Vermont.

Your Web site states: "Six individuals have contributed the overwhelming majority of these photographs."

Since the information on your web page: "born: 5/27/1843, unknown; died: 8/28/1915, Highgate Center Cemetery, Highgate, VT" is clearly incorrect I would line a way to resolve this conflict in information on your web page.
