You forgot to mention that the 1st Hvy reverted to its' original 11th VT Infantry designation in May 1864, just in time to join the Old Vermont Brigade for the Battle of the Wilderness, and served in the Brigade as infantry until the end of the war. Most of the deathe from disease were at Andersonville and other Confederate prisons. Onr reason for the relatively high number of casualties was that the regiment had nearly as many troops as the rest of the
Brigade combined.
