Identity of antique George III (possibly police) staff
I purchased this 2-foot long staff because it was considered 'unidentified' at auction. It bears George III's cipher at the top, the number 41 at the base, and the insignia of a house.
The house appears to have two windows on the right, one on the left, a doorway, a stone path, three or four steps leading up to it, and a central chimney.
There are holes bored near the top for a leather strap.
There is a lot of speculation about where it may have come from, but it seems to match the styles of staves from Edinburgh, Leith & Perth.
Re: Identity of antique George III (possibly police) staff (SOLVED)
I can report this was solved, through the use of John Green's book "Insignia Used By Old Scottish Police Forces". It's from the Kinross-shire Constabulary, and the 'house' is Lochleven Castle.
