Boxer puppy our newest family member...
We just purchased a new boxer puppy that was listed in the local paper as "AKC" boxer puppies for sale; vet checked, parents on site $850. well........the people we bought "Chance" from are ignoring our requests for the registration papers; so it looks as though there never WAS AKC papers for either parents which means that OUR little guy will not be able to be registered w/ the AKC. I did meet both parents, father was White Boxer (they said they got him from a pet store...); mother was Brindle. Our Chance is Brindle w/ BEAUTIFUL markings....I have many people stop to comment on how beautiful he is, and how well behaved. (for 9 wks mind you)! My question(s): Are we within our rights to bring these people to court to sue them for false representation and obtain monies back for the dog, and if so....what do YOU think our little fellow is worth?? (of course he is "priceless" to our family, we ADORE him). We can bring them to small claims and it won't cost more than $35 or so...The woman actually had the audacity to say, "If you don't WANT the dog, you can bring him back"...THAT did not make me very happy as he was a gift to our youngest son turning 6 yo. That was not even a thought in our minds, only that they listed the litter as "AKC Boxer Pups" and now they won't even forward us the necessary paperwork to register him. It is obvious at this point that they had no intentions of giving us papers, AND they never even had the puppies first shots and wormed before they sold them. Live and learn...but I'll tell you, "Chance" is the most WONDERFUL dog...I wouldn't trade him for the world! thank you for your expertise. Pati Williams |

My suggestion would be to speak with AKC if you have the names of the sellers and the parents. If indeed the pups are AKC registered they could tell you and the sellers could get into trouble with AKC for with- holding the AKC papers. If the pups are not registered but the parents are then you probably can not sue as the pups are AKC just not registered. Do you have proof that they advertised as AKC registered puppies? If so then I would try to take them to small claims court. Good luck, I wish you well. Camille |
