Strikers

How is it going in the quest for a new striker? or has the youth got one up their sleeves?

Re: Strikers

As strikers go, we have a number of young talent coming through although they are not quite ready for first team just yet as they need to build themselves up. However I have been playing Joe Hoare who is 28 and was at Herne Bay youth with myself ten years ago. Im afraid to say it but the way he works with and without the ball is immense and he will we playing first team football regulary. So I lose another quality player, im not unhappy about this as I know that reserve management is all about producing young and exciting players for the first team.

Although, results havent been going the way of the reserves, the level of football is and has been fantastic hence producing young players for the first team, (no less than six played against Erith Town), and played well so i've heard. There is no player in the reserves that wont get to play first team but time is important to develop these players.

The reserve managers that moan about the first team taking their players or giving them players to play are mad, Yes it is frustrating to a point that getting a team together for a Saturday is more difficult when this happens but it is rewarding when they are taken because they deserve it. Herne Bay has a great youth policy and I havent seen another team in the Kent League that will gamble on the youth, we have a very young squad the the minute, but developing these players in the next two to three years Herne Bay will be a extremely good club and will do well, as other clubs will be looking outside their own clubs to recruit players.

Re: Strikers

Joe you must be getting really worried. You look more like your Dad Graham every day (you are a far better player however) and he went bald 25 years ago. Dont say i did'nt warn you
