I don't think Wayne has a big secret, it's just logical to me...
HaT are heavily invested in 5 eras. ACW has been done to death over 40 years, if some people don't like any of them, probably time they looked to metal???
The oft-quoted HaT ACW set was a) a long time ago when they were a new company experimenting b) fill one of the few real gaps in ACW, namely Zouaves, managing at the same time to bridge the gap between two of their (HaT's) main eras (Nappy and WWI), while covering FPW and Colonial (another chosen era) on the way, with most alternatives requiring nothing more than a different paint job.
Every Model/Hobby shop I've been to in the last ten years has unsold ACW, while other sets by HaT, Strelets, Emhar and co. sell so fast we have to rely on mail order to guarentee them , because they sell-out in days.
HaT knows what sells, HaT knows what will sell and yet more ACW t'aint it!!! |
