Increasingly 28mm is appearing in plastic - see the GW basic figure ranges and the new Fields of Glory historicals. Personally, even in plastic, I find it too chunky and cartoonish for my taste and much prefer my 1/72nds. I suppose, at the end of the day, manufacturers will make what sells and discontinue what doesn't. Having been a wargamer for over 30 years I have seen a lot of changing fashions - time was when due to rising cost and the amount of table top they took up old metal 25mm figs seemed to be on their way out in favour of 15mm, but here we are now with massive 28s appearing to become the premier metal scale. Perhaps people are just wealthier nowadays but I know I couldn't afford even half my armies in 28mm and the storage problem would not even bear thinking about! |
