New High Lake Levels and Sandbars!

Went on a paddle yesterday afternoon and saw a lot of different sandbars and the lake around these parts has really came up, going to be some fun new places to surf when we get some more waves. Any one else notice a big diffence water was really cold again because of the WSW winds and most of the dirty water was way offshore.

Re: New High Lake Levels and Sandbars!

I have been waiting for the water to clean up so I can do some exploring. I am hoping for some new or even old spots to form surf friendly bars. Hope Thursday night is kind to us pruned skinned folks.

Re: New High Lake Levels and Sandbars!

Check out the Lake Vision Cams for South Milwaukee and you can see what looks like a legit river flowing out in the Lake. That's the way it used to look when I was a kid.Levels are wayyy up from the High Scool in Cudahy all the way down to the Metro and Bender.I hope they continue the dregde at the Crick mouth and South of there. All of the silt outflow from these floods could negate the positive effects of the pre-flood higher lake levels that came from the record snowfall. The Root river and the lagoon at the bottom of the old Mill road are still moving fast and hopefully these WSW winds push this stuff out to dissapate. The pollutants in this raging river could be an ecological disaster. Also,a memo has gone out to local hospitals not to give patients with suppressed immune systems tap water but a public statement has not been made yet as testing is still underway.Let's all keep an eye on the developing situations.

new sandbars rock, but just as quick as they form, all it takes is one good storm, and they can vanish! Sand is always moving around, ALWAYS...............

Also... watch put for some good size logs in the line up. I've seen some huge logs pulled out down at the sailing center in the last few days.

Oh...and sand bars rock!! And don't forget, that sand travels along the shore once its out in the lake. There ought to be some very nice surprises for those willing to explore.

Re: New High Lake Levels and Sandbars!

The only thing constant is change I guess.Except for that one rock at Wind Point that everybody and his brother have demolished their toes on.They ought to pull that thing out of the water and put it at the top of the steps so I can just get it out of the way right at the beginning of the session. I'm sure there will be some bars working. Some of you experienced guys will know just where to go.Some old friends may be returning and some of the "new" spots that were firing last January might fade back into obscurity.Grant Park here in SM is really in need of some repairs.Roads, bike trails, and some of the drainage systems are messed up,and some of the cliffs have given way making the beaches impassable.I haven't seen this much water in the Root River since I was a kid.
