THE BIG QUESTION

As part of CHC Awareness Week, Gwent Community Health Council asks perhaps the most important question facing the NHS today and seeks answers from those who know best – PATIENTS!

THE BIG QUESTION?

Your GP – are you being served?

Future plans suggest that more people are likely to be treated out of hospital and supported by GPs and community based teams of health professionals. There is a new emphasis on teamwork and seeing the most appropriate person – who may not necessarily be the doctor. It is said that people with chronic conditions such as diabetes are already beginning to benefit from close monitoring in the community to keep them in good health and avoid emergency admissions to hospital.

1. Is the strategy beginning to work or are you finding the service less available and supportive than before?

2. What are your views on GP and primary care services?

3. Are you confident they could take on a bigger role in your care?

Please give us your views in complete confidence. Positive responses will be as welcome as concerns about poor service. We will not disclose the identity of any individuals but will publish a summary of the results. We will also feedback the messages to those purchasing and providing services – and seek changes where necessary.
