Subject:   Birmingham City helmet plate

Message:   Have been given a KC 7 point star helmet plate of Birmingham City Police. Its originally a blackened brass plate, but the front has been painted in gold. The centre has a chrome, seperately fitted coat of arms, and the centre circle that its mounted in is painted black.
Can anyone tell me if this was worn and for what reason it was gold coloured???
