Message:   Just returned from a visit to Gettysburg. The new museum and visitor's center is a fantastic addition with its multimedia day by day presentation of the battle. Narrated films are shown in and among the museum's artifacts and weapons to give a an integrated picture of events. There is a Resource Center on site where you can look up additional information on the battle, track movements of particular troops and locate the various state monuments within the park. There is also a room devoted to letters from soldiers exhibited in glass cases with some of the quotes appearing on large panels. I was thrilled to see that one of panels quoted from the diary of Charles Morey, 2nd VT. The cyclorama painting is undergoing restoration and will be installed in September. It was great to tour the battlefield again after 20 years and find the monument for 16th Infantry. Make the trip if you get a chance. It was well worth it!
