I have discovered, through research, that my Great Grandfather was in the civil war, Vermont Voulenteers.I have found his name in the 11th infantry. I am trying to rearch his stay in the war. I've found that he was Honorabily discharged due to a head injury. I would like to findout the particulars. I've later found that he underwent a sucessful trepanning sutgery, due to his injury. I have no idea what this consisted of or where it was preformed. I would greatly appreciate any help in my quest. I really don't know how to begin.
Oh, my Great Grandfathers name is Willian Wallace Thomas.
Thank you so much.
Anxiosly awating hearing from anyone with help.
